Great Britain

The United Kingdom (or Great Britain) is situated on the British Isles. The British Isles consist of two large islands, Great Britain and Ireland, and a lot of small islands.

The United Kingdom is made up of four countries: England, Wales, Scotland (on the island of Great Britain), and Northern Ireland (on the island of Ireland). Their capitals are London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Belfast. The capital of the UK is London.

The British Isles are washed by the North Sea , the English Channel, the Atlantic Ocean and the Irish Sea.

There are a lot of rivers in Great Britain, but they are not very long. The Severn is the longest river, while the Thames is the deepest one.

Great Britain is a country of forests and plains. There are no high mountains in this country.

The climate is mild the whole year round.

There are a lot of places of interests in the UK. For example, Big Ben – a clock tower, Buckingham Palace- the place where the Queen lives, Giant's Causeway – a natural phenomenon, Stratford-upon-Avon - a small town where William Shakespeare, the greatest English poet and playwright, was born, Oxford and Cambridge-universities cities, etc.
